Could it have been any better?

October 15, 2008

Well, our rally in Central Park was fabulous.  The day was gloriously beautiful…sunny skies, a little chilly.  As my step-Mom says, “It was perfect jeans and sweatshirt weather.”  We had a fun group of people including lots of smiling kids, parents, supporters of a Car-Free Central Park.  We even had two of the Prospect Park Youth Advocates representing (thank you Oswald Bowman and Michael Cheng!).  See their video here.  As you will see from the streetfilm by Robin Urban Smith, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer and Council Member Gale Brewer joined us and echoed our enthusiasm to “get on with the great experiment of a Car-Free park.”  The kids loved getting messy in the finger paints and drew amazing signs entitled “What Central Park Means to Me.”  We need to keep pushing, but this was a wonderful starting point for us. Thanks for your support.  Let’s keep up the good work.

Rally for the Cause!

October 6, 2008

Tomorrow is our big rally in Central Park.  Please come out and support Mobilized Moms and other motivated New Yorkers.  We are starting at 4:30 p.m. at 72nd and Central Park West.  After our stroll through Central Park to the bandshell (not Bethesda Fountain, as was previously thought), we will hear from Borough President Scott Stringer and Council Member Gale Brewer, two huge supporters of smart transportation policy, in general, and a Car-Free Central Park, in particular.  It’s going to be a gorgeous day.  We hope to see you there.

Welcome to Mobilized Moms

September 3, 2008

Welcome to the Mobilized Mom’s blog! We hope to keep you up-to-date on various events that will give Moms across New York City a platform to voice their desire for a more livable New York City. They say “it takes a village,” and we firmly believe that we can make a village out of this great big city of ours!

Taking back our backyard (a.k.a. Central Park) by getting cars out is a first step to creating a safer environment for our children to live, breathe, and play. To that end, in conjunction with Transportation Alternatives and The Campaign for Car-Free Central Park, we’re hosting a rally on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 4:30 PM. We’ll meet at the Northeast corner of 72nd Street and Central Park West and then make our way through Strawberry Fields to the Bandshell. Please join us, bring your kids, partners, friends, families and enthusiasm!
